NetPlus: from trash to yarn

April 2022
Fishnets are one of the most harmful plastics in the oceans.
Plastic is forever.
Why not use it wisely?
Netplus yarn is a smart collaboration between coastal communities in South America, fisheries and the company Bureo.
There are about 5 trillion pieces of plastic floating in our oceans and Bureo have been collecting about 3.4 million pounds of discarded fishing nets so far.
For the last years, Patagonia have been actively looking into different ways of recycling materials. The NetPlus yarn is the beautiful result of their project together with Bureo. A post-consumer recycled nylon: from ocean trash, to spun yarn, to fabric.
NetPlus' benefits:
- create positive solutions and creating employment for local workers
- empower local communities and educate companies
- 100% post-consumer fishing nets
- engage circular economy
- fully traceable product
Patagonia's slogan: wear it, don't waste it.
