From a foreign grandmother

I come from a country where children are told:

don't go out when it's cold because you'll get sick,
don't get in puddles because you'll get wet,
don't sit on the ground because you'll get dirty,
and please don't run too much because you'll sweat.

In short, a country where clothes are made to be displayed and not lived.

It is a joy to watch my grandchildren grow up in Norway where they run happily outdoors, even with -10 degrees, red cheeks but a nice warm body in soft wool bodysuits and super tough winter suits. Or watch them jump in the mud, all dirty and then they queue up to be washed with the water hose.
Even playing in wet sand when it's not 30 degrees outside.

I never imagined how wearing simple, practical, warm and comfortable clothes gives a wonderful freedom to explore and experience nature even in the most difficult climatic situations.
