Fairtrade

'Not only chocolate is Fairtrade certified'
Fairtrade is a global movement made up of a diverse group of producers, companies, shoppers, advocates and organizations that put people and the planet first.
It supports farming and labor communities and protects workers.
The mission is to reduce poverty and promote sustainable development worldwide.
The Fairtrade certificate means:
- safe working conditions
- environmental protection
- sustainable livelihoods and society
- community development funds
For every Fairtrade product sold, the person who made it receives an additional amount of money. This is called the "community development fund". What does that mean?
Basically, it is the community that decides together what to do with their fund. They use it to improve their lives and meet their social, economic and environmental needs.
Patagonia, for example, works with Fairtrade.
